Welcome to the 5th Annual OSERA Symposium!
Saturday, May 19 • 11:10am - 12:30pm
LGBTQ+ History through Activism & Oppression

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Come learn, ask questions and discuss integral topics about LGBTQ History and Activism. We will cover 3 forms of Oppression, and intersectionality. The information covered in this presentation doesn’t require any prior knowledge, but it will help to understand the basics of power, privilege, and oppression. But not to worry, there will be definitions provided and conversation on these topics as well! This workshop includes a timeline of LGBTQ history, from policies to riots, and will conclude with ways participants can improve their advocacy work with little to a lot of capacity to give. Participants should have a basic understanding of power, privilege, and oppression, as well as a basic understanding of queer theory. There will be definitions, however, participants will benefit the most if they attend with prior knowledge.
